Escrima at Takado – Sikado:
What is Sikado, or “Hog-do”? Sikado is a combination of many martial arts, based heavily on BIFF Escrima and Wing Chun. The basic idea of the art is to react to different situations with the necessary technique, that is not limited to any particular art or sport. Sikado is based on combat, not self-defense, and this is clearly visible in training. The style is aggressive and offensive, without any rules limiting it.
In Sikado, training is based on the trainee and their attitude, and technique follows only after that. Thus, training consists largely of sparring, which develops the fight IQ and reaction ability, whether armed or unarmed. Of course, we also train techniques used in sparring.
Because we do not concentrate on techniques, we do not have graduations or belt levels. Everyone trains the same, we do not separate based on skill level.
Because Sikado is a combat martial art, we train the widest variety of situations we can. Situations can include multiple opponents, different weapons, such as sticks, knives, swords, axes, or whatever that can work as a weapon, or combinations of these.
